The Lecturer role in Game Design focuses on delivering high quality teaching, research, and service in the area of Game Design. Applicants should have significant experience in industry-relevant design research and practice, with expertise in the following areas:
•Game design, serious gaming, mobile games, browser-based design, general 2D/3D digital design and relevant contemporary and historical concepts, discussions and contextual issues of game design and digital media in general.
•The position requires design expertise first and foremost, to be complimented by other skills or knowledge and the appointee must exhibit an understanding of some range of the following approaches and/or software; 3D design and computer programming, Unity 3D, AR/VR development, project management and agile development methods, as well as traditional studio approaches, audio/video editing and production. While a familiarity with industry standard is expected, it is more important that submitted portfolios exhibit an expanded and innovative use of the above studio practices.
The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an existing research programme and will have identified strategies for further developing his or her research platform within the School of Design’s strategic research areas.
