THE CYFEST DIGITAL MEDIA PROGRAM is a curated selection of short-format video works by established and emerging artists from cities where public screenings are to be held (Bogota, NYC, St. Petersburg and Mexico City). Curated by Leah Stuhltrager, the program spans forms of screen-based art including animated gifs, net art, virtual reality, stop-motion, performance art, gaming, digital collage, and technology based innovation in film.

ANNA FRANTS

For the 10th Anniversary of CYFEST, Anna Frants will present the North American premier of "No. O" — a modular, 3D Public Art installation. Conceptually referencing a computer grid and visually reflecting the infrastructure of a building sans walls, the exposed scaffolding houses objects, videos, and movements. The installation is flexible, varying from site to site and country to country, with local materials utilized in each iteration.
Anna Frants is an artist / curator who cofounded CYLAND Media Art Lab and St. Petersburg Art Projec. Frants’ interactive art installations have been exhibited extensively including the Venice Biennale, the St. Petersburg Biennial, Moscow Biennial, Polish Biennial, The State Hermitage Museum, The Chelsea Art Museum, Convergence London, Gogolfest, and Transmediale, among others. Frants’ works can be found in collections of The Museum of Art and Design, Kolodzei Art Foundation, Sergey Kuryokhin Center, and numerous private collections.

CARLA GANNIS

Carla Gannis' New Media Installation — "A Subject Self-Defined" — is drawn from a new body of work that addresses issues of branded identity; age and body estimation; catastrophe culture; and online agency via static, dynamic and interactive “selfie” imagery. In 'A Subject Self-Defined,' the viewer is provided multiple vantage points that traverses various forms of self-portraiture and mixed-media methodologies. - Dorothy Santos, 2016

Since the late 1990s, Gannis has incorporated net and digital technologies into her art – garnering awards including a NYFA Grant, an Aljira Art Center Fellowship, and a Chashama Studio Award.
