Visual Arts Research (VAR), is a peer-reviewed journal from the University of Illinois press providing a forum for historical, critical, cultural, psychological, educational and conceptual research in visual arts and aesthetic education. VAR is accepting submissions for a special “born digital” issue (to be published in 2017).  

In this special issue, we are seeking submissions that question, investigate, and expand the conversation about art education scholarship that is born digital. Submissions are encouraged to explore hypertext, video, audio, location-based, interactive, data-driven, and real-time media, instead of text and static images only. Authors may also consider how born digital scholarship may impact accessibility, utilize crowdsourcing capabilities, and engage with big data resources.
