Body and Machine 2016: Kinetic and Interactive Art
Attention: All those kinetically and interactively inclined, the call for entry for Body and Machine 2016 is open! All types of work will be considered: hand cranked, web based, hand pumped pneumatic, computer based, and installation pieces will all have a place in this exhibition.
Body and Machine 2016 is the second juried exhibition of kinetic and interactive art being held by Make It Move at the Northrup King Building 3rd Floor Gallery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Make It Move is a new organization started in 2014 devoted to the promotion and exhibition of kinetic and interactive art. This is a juried exhibition; the three-juror panel will again be the Minneapolis artists Brad Jirka, Bill Klaila, and Jack Pavlik.
Last year was a great success with artists coming from four Midwestern states to participate in the exhibition. This year we are hoping to get submissions from all states (IA, ND, SD, MN and WI) to participate in this unique opportunity.
Deadline: All submissions must be received by March 5th 2016!
Eligibility: This exhibition will be open to artists over the age of 18 working in kinetic and interactive media from Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Students, professional artists, collaboratives, and all those kinetically inclined are welcome to apply. Artwork must be kinetic or interactive in some way, and must relate to the concept of human interaction with machines. Submitted work should have been completed in the last three years. Work of all types will be considered for the exhibition: web based work, analog systems, hand cranked, robotic. Artist that have previously participated in Body and Machine are encouraged to apply, however works previously submitted will not be considered.
Please note: Work submitted must not be dangerous or hazardous. Artwork that uses electrical arcing, flames, flammable gases, caustic or acidic liquids, or otherwise hazardous will not be considered for this exhibition.
Size limits: All sizes of work will be considered for this exhibition. Installation work is acceptable but space for this type of work is limited. Pedestal and wall mounted work is strongly encouraged.
Enter online: All submissions must be made online through Callforentry.org (find the link on the homepage of makeitmove.us. You may submit up to 3 images and 3 corresponding video links. Submissions by email, CD, or other means will not be accepted.
For the best representation of your work be sure to include a corresponding video link for your submitted images in the questions section of the CaFE online form.
Entry Fee: $25, 3 image – 3 video link limit.
Notification: Notification of acceptance will be made by phone by March 11th, 2016. Others will be notified by email by the same date. No calls or emails about notification, please.
