Short project description:
The "pilot operatingNet/" is an open-source operating-environment
project for the internet communication of the real nodes of the
medi@terra/2001 festival: Athens > Sofia > Belgrade > Maribor >
Frankfurt : 14 Sept. - 15 Oct. 2001. The "pilot operatingNet/" will be
the communication link with these real nodes and the 4000 km route
points, and will connect remote internet participants to these multi -
nodal events. The internet participants are invited to project
"virtual<->real" networked events in relation with the real route points
and nodes.

The aims to be activated by the participatory projects to the pilot
operatingNet / are:
- To propose and elaborate interactive on line projects between the co
organizational nodes of the medi@terra01 festival, the route points of
the [microMuseum] and other nodes (persons or centers or teams etc) on
the main topics of this real <-> virtual network
- To propose and to implement forms of interaction with the public of
the geographical - festival nodes, and/or with the festival events
- To propose and built up critical modalities of communication between
the remote nodes of the participants, the route points of the
[microMuseum] and the nodes of the festival
- To call, invite, and link other nodes (persons or centers or teams
etc) from all over the world, for net related projects, that would
renovate the idea of the pass through cross culture borders
- To research and activate Common-Operating-Access projects for new -
media art practices, by conjunction of remote geo-cultural and
geo-political nodes, in a temporary grid.
