ARCO - EL MUNDO Net-Art Awards

ARCO, the International Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid and UNEDISA,
publishers of the Spanish newspaper EL MUNDO want to give their support
to the new web-specific art projects that are a result of the use of the
Internet as a new medium for both creation and exhibition. In order to
do so, they have created the ARCO-EL MUNDO Net-Art Awards in three
different categories:

ARCO - EL MUNDO Award to be the best Net-Art work

Eligibility: Any work that meets the Net-Art requirements
Award granted by: Jury decision
Application deadline: 31 January, 2001 at 12:00 pm. (GMT+1)
Value of the Award: 10.000 euros.
Announcement of the winning site: 17 February, 2001.

The acceptance of the award implies that the artist will entitle
UNEDISA-EL MUNDO the right to exhibit and file the winning work in their
records. UNEDISA-EL MUNDO will be licensed to give up these rights to a
Spanish contemporary art museum or institution.

Only one site per artist or group will be accepted.

ARCO - EL MUNDO Navigator's Award to the best Net-Art work

Eligibility: Any work that meets the Net-Art requirements
Award granted by: on-line voting
Application deadline: 31 January, 2001 at 12:00 pm. (GMT+1)
Value of the Award: 2.500 euros.
Announcement of the winning site: 17 February, 2001.

The acceptance of the award implies that the artist will entitle
UNEDISA-EL MUNDO the right to exhibit and file the winning work in their
records. UNEDISA-EL MUNDO will be licensed to give up theses rights to a
Spanish contemporary art museum or institution. Works developed by
artists present at ARCO'01 will be specially considered.

Only one site per artist or group will be accepted.

ARCO - EL MUNDO Award to the Gallery that brings the best Net-Art
proposal to ARCO'01

Eligibility: Any Gallery in ARCO'01 that presents works that meet the
Net-Art requirements
Award granted by: Jury decision
Application deadline: 31 January, 2001 at 12:00 p.m. (GMT+1)
Value of the Award: 5000 euros.
Announcement of the winning site: 17 February, 2001.

All artists that work with web-specific art, as well as all Galleries
present in ARCO'01 are invited to participate.

We are convinced that these Awards will be welcomed by all those who
have believed in art in the web and hope that they become an
encouragement to continue with their work and investigation.
