NAKED STATES TOUR HITS THE ROAD AND THE WEB
New York City, July 18, 1997 - Razorfish announced today the opening of
the Naked States Tour Web site the latest addition to "Naked Pavement",
the World-Wide Web exhibition of the work of artist Spencer Tunick. On
July 4, New York City-based Tunick began the tour and will stage unique
nude photographs in each of the fifty states.
Found at http://www.thebluedot.com/tunick, the site chronicles the tour,
allowing visitors to experience the adventures of Tunick's life on the
road via daily reports, journal entries and documentary photographs. On
the site, visitors have the ability to sign up to pose, offer places to
sleep, and give assistance in organizing the shoots. "Naked Pavement"
includes earlier exhibitions "America Zone" and "So Much of Everything",
both recently redesigned.
"We're excited to be working with Spencer on this historic project. Not
many performance art pieces involve a national tour and almost none of
them are integrated with the Internet," explained Craig M. Kanarick,
Razorfish Chairman and the Curator of The Blue Dot. "The idea of
following an artist as he travels around is fantastic and we look
forward to supporting and working with him during his journey."
The tour will culminate with a massive finale in Washington, DC, where
Tunick will attempt to gather 250 nude people if front of the Capital.
After the tour is complete, the site will feature a series of
black-and-white photographs, one from each state, followed by an
exhibition of large scale prints in New York City.
