EMERGE--Call for Entries

GenArtSF is seeking submissions for it's annual summer exhibition,
EMERGE, presented in association with the San Francisco Art Institute.
The exhibition will feature the work of a committee's selection of Bay
Area emerging artists. Deadline for submissions is April 1st, 2002.

Emerge 2002 Jurors are:

- Arnold J. Kemp, Associate Visual Arts Curator, Yerba Buena Center for
the Arts
- James Bewley, Program Director, New Langton Arts
- Heather Marx, Owner, Heather Marx Gallery
- Stephanie Syjuco, Artist

Inclusion Requirements

Artists must be residing or maintaining a studio in the Bay Area: San
Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, Alameda, Marin, Napa,
Sonoma or Solano counties and must be in their 20's or 30's. A resume
and documentation specific to discipline are required. Do not send
original artwork, master slides or tapes. Please include artist
statements, press clippings and any other background material that is
relevant. Please do not send submissions in portfolio cases, binders,
folders, or any other bulky presentation materials - these will be
immediately discarded.

Submission Requirements

Fine Arts: Submit no more than 20, 35mm slides in an 8.5 x 11' clear
plastic sheet. Label all slides with your name and a number in lower
left corner corresponding with a slide list. Slide list should include
title, date, dimensions and media.

Film and Video: Submit up to 30 minutes of VHS format tape. Cue up to
ten minutes of material for primary viewing. Please transfer film work
to video. Include supplemental written information if necessary.

New Media Arts: Submit VHS format video, CD-Rom, Zip, or URL.

Artist Registry

The GenArtSF Artist Registry serves as a resource for curators,
gallerists, arts administrators, art consultants and collectors to view
the work of emerging Bay Area artists.

If you would like GenArtSF to show your work to members of the arts
community, please follow these simple instructions:

1. Mark 5 slides with an X that GenArtSF can keep for the slide
registry. Make sure each slide is clearly labeled with your name and
phone number.
2. Enclose a check for $15.00 payable to "GenArtSF of TSFFCIF".

Please Note: While care will be taken in handling submissions, GenArtSF
is not responsible for damage or loss of materials.

GenArtSF keep slides on file for one year. If you would like your work
returned, please include a self addressed stamped envelope. Proposals
submitted with insufficient postage will not be returned.
