Do you prefer when there is a theme to the commissions or if the CFP (call
for proposals) is completely open? I would assume the latter but want some

Thematic competitions help showcase different approaches since various artists are approaching it from their spefic vantage points, understanding and expertise. Open CPFs do not necessarily elicit the best entries. They are however perfect for artists who believe they have the maturity it takes to produce unique works where their vision is not stifled or contained within the set paradigm of the theme.
