preset softwar: version 1.0
Bluntcut are exponents of Post Mortuary Aesthetics.
On November 27th they are hosting a ceremony to inaugurate their
installation for the Impressions Gallery as part of the Photo98 project.
This will occur in the garden of York Museum where Bluntcut will answer
enquires concerning their tomb, its utilisation of ancient and
contemporary interfaces to engage the question of destiny. Their "tome"
stone will rest permanently alongside ancient tombs which are a cultural
inheritance of the City of York. The gravitas of the stone an ironic
lever with which to prise open the corpus of Bluntcut. Following the
ceremony the oeuvre or corpus breaks down according to organic presets.
A digital corpus is located via an inscription on the ledger of the York
stone: www.bluntcut.com.
This locates the chronological X point, or chiasmus of the project, a
clue to future archaeology as to potentially transient cultural
concerns. For a limited duration the corpus' assets will be available
online for the public to download.
PreSet softwar: versions 1.0 and 1.1 will also be available as limited
edition CD-ROMs from Impressions Gallery and from January 16th 1999
other leading exhibition spaces in the uk.
