NEW MEDIA ART: Why is art about or using technology important,
attractive or interesting?
10.22.98 (thursday) at 6pm at UDA.
Join RHIZOME editor Rachel Greene, MOMA curator Barbara London,
gallerist Tamas Banovich of Postmasters, and artists Wolfgang Staehle,
Bureau of Inverse Technology, and Beth Stryker for an evening of
discussion and workshopping of ideas and projects. What is new media
art? What does it look like? Why is it important? Who makes it? Is it
interesting? Is it new?
This panel will introduce new media art by looking at specific projects
(internet-based and video), and will consider the history and critical
issues surrounding art and technology. Each panelist brings a very
different set of interests to the table, and artists, students,
designers, and enthusiasts are encouraged to join the discussion.
