Full-time Assistant Professor, beginning August, 2007. We seek an artist interested in exploring the creative application of digital technologies informed by contemporary practice and theory. A unique opportunity for a working artist/animator to play a critical role in a developing a new program. This position is a two-year (renewable) academic year (nine month) appointment.

Qualifications: Candidates will have a terminal degree, or appropriate professional experience specializing in animation and possess strong communication skills. Knowledge of the demands of the professional field, historical and contemporary issues, and tools and technologies inherent to the discipline are expected. Ability to teach/work in a Macintosh environment. Preference will be given to applicants who also have experience in Web Design. Previous college-level teaching experience is desirable.

Responsibilities: Teach all levels of digital, traditional and experimental animation from conceptual development to technical execution. Applicants should show excellence in 2D and 3D computer-based animation and familiarity with storytelling, character animation, special effects, and production. The normal faculty load is three 3-credit courses per semester in addition to participation in on-going curriculum development, community service, student advising and recruiting. All faculty are expected to maintain an active creative output, consistent with the mission of a professional art school.
