The Web site Cooltourist.ro offers, the fast access to live images broadcast around the clock from three web cams placed in the Grand Square and Victoriei Boulevard of the central medieval city of Sibiu, which is this year's European Cultural Capital.
The Internet user tourists can see, any time they want, what happens in the city's historic centre. In an effort to attract virtual tourists, the Web site will hold a digital photograph contest in October. The Cooltourist project is financed by the Romanian Culture and Religious Affairs Ministry and by the event organiser - the Romanian Ecologist Youth Association. The project consisted in setting up a web camera network, for virtual tourists to have online access so as to watch the events devoted to the European Cultural Capital. The web cameras will stay in place in Sibiu also after the end of the year, which is dedicated to the European Cultural Capital.
