Masul ". . . Masul crafts subdued yet colorful electro-acoustic
meditations, shuffling cycled melodic snippets, hovering drones, gently
rippling noise, and all manner of sibilant breathiness (courtesy of
Mejer's whispery, unpitched columns of air). Giallorenzo is credited
with piano, synthesizer, found samples, and computer, and it's to
Masul's credit that the genesis of any given sound often remains hazy,
both musicians managing to forge a rich entwined sound stream where the
subtle interactions are clearly audible. . . ."

"Paul Giallorenzo is a Chicago based musician and sound designer
playing piano, synthesizer, and electronics in a wide variety of groups
and contexts, with varying degrees of improvisation/composition;
instrumentation/media; personel/personalities. . . Current groups
include Get in to Go Out, the Telegraph Series, and Masul an
electro/acoustic project with Swiss composer Thomas Mejer.
Paul also sound designs, composes, and performs music for the theatre
productions of Uma Productions [why they invented dancing, NYC
International Fringe Festival, Aug. 2003] and Naked Eyed Theatre
Company [Nickel and Dimed, Steppenwolf Theatre, Fall 2003]. In the
summer of 2004, Paul scored part of the film Brush Fires for the
Chicago film company Split Pillow, which was an official selection at
film festivals in Seattle, Phoenix, and Philadelphia.
As a producer and arts organizer, Paul is a co-founder of the Elastic
Arts Foundation (EAF), a non-profit arts organization operating out of
Logan Square's Elastic (formerly 3030) . Paul collaborates with many
Chicago artists and musicians to present creative and independent
performance opportunities. In Fall, 2003, Paul began booking and
producing ELASTRO, a monthly electro-acoustic music series showcasing
local, national, and international musicians.

Thomas K. J. Mejer studied Saxophone with Urs Leimgruber (Jazz School
Lucerne), Marcus Weiss (Konservatorium Luzerne) and Mick Green
(Dartington College of Art, GB) and composition Vinko Globokar, Per
Norgard and Michael Finnissy (Sussex University). His compositions were
a.o. played by Allegri Quartett, BBC Singers, Ny Dansk Saxofon
Kvartett, Cambridge New Music Players, Vision Saxophon-Quartett, basel
sinfonietta.
