// Download ASE Color Palettes for Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 + CS3 from In The Mod
Dr. Woohoo today announced that In The Mod (ITM) - his site celebrating color and dedicated to analyzing, visualizing and sharing color palettes - now enables users to download color palettes from (in)famous paintings as Adobe Swatch Exchange files (.ASE). This format allows designers to use the color palettes in Adobe’s Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive CS2 and CS3 applications. Developers can download the palettes in formats compatible with Flash, Processing and After Effects.
Paintings included are from master painters like Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Josef Albers to contemporaries artists like Jared Tarbell, CES Reas, Ben Fry, James Paterson, Aaron Nather, Jeff Soto, Daniel Martin Diaz, Nicholas Deakin, Gary Taxali and more. Designers can now download the ITM color palettes to Load into, and/or Replace, their existing Swatches. No coding is necessary.
The goal of ITM is to educate the public by deconstructing a painting into its color palette and then presents relationships between a single artist’s painting and across all paintings in the database. The process uses Woohoo’s Color Analytic algorithms that run a statistical analysis to find the most popular colors and reduce the palettes to a manageable number. In The Mod is available at: http://InTheMod.com/inthemod.html ( ITM requires Flash 8 ).
