google-homicides

Impressive Google map showing NYC homicides in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
When they say, "The map may take several minutes to load" they really
mean it. Give it time even though it looks like nothing's happening.
Once it's loaded everything is smooth from there. Note the
overwhelmingly higher numbers for shootings. This could serve as a
good argument for restrictions on gun ownership. How many of those
shooters would have committed homicide if they hadn't had a gun?
Perhaps some but definitely not all. I wonder how many were committed
by people with legally obtained guns. That would be interesting to
see too.
