Final Call- Ars Virtua: "The Real"

This is the final call for entries to the Ars Virtua juried show "The Real"

Ars Virtua Gallery and New Media Center is looking for works for our
inaugural show. The theme of this show is "The Real" and will be
exhibited on the grounds of Ars Virtua which is located on the border of
Butler and Dowden in Second Life (http://www.secondlife.com)

For too long "the virtual" has supplanted "the real" in the realm of
communication and entertainment. We recognize that this is not a
replacement, but an extension and that 3D game engines are creating new
environments with new rules that are just as tangible as the old ones,
but on new terms. Education and art have become aware of the value of
simulation as it relates to and does not relate to campus and museum
life. Simulation or perhaps the threat of it occurs when it begins to
take the place of that which it is simulating. That is the purpose of
this exhibit, and though it does not to make every exhibit in space-time
useless or passe this exhibit does attempt to offer a wholly electronic
alternative, an "other" real.

/****We are looking for submissions that reference, reflect on, make fun
of, hint at, ignore, harass, vilify, exalt, or otherwise deal with "The
Real."****/

Please include a brief description about why the work fits in with the
exhibit.

Acceptable submissions are: 2d - Digital Images, Streamed and online
video, or 3d objects or scripts produced in the Second Life engine.

All submissions and requests for more information should be sent to
