Discount Video is a collective of six artists who use video as a medium for contemporary art.

Most current uses of video in art are means to append or "update" traditional media, I.E. installation, sculpture, even painting. Or, video is completely mutated and presented as cinema, or "film."

The artists of Discount Video create works that reflect the cultural, aesthetic, and historical discourses that are largely absent from video's mainstream uses. They see the medium as not only the most dominant in our culture, but also the most powerful in articulating ideas about the world around us. Their subject matter is diverse and unique, as are their individual styles.

In addition to creating independent, single-channel works, Discount Video collaborates on installations, performances, and organizes screenings and exhibitions that showcase not only their art, but that of other video artists whose work they admire.
