New York exists on it's own. Independent and alive to itself.
But in a virtual world where is New York?

New York, and it's cultural dominance exist even in Cyberspace.

Why?

It exists because we need re-ification<br>
The general public, despite the proliferation of online communities,
still lacks the
confidence in their own opinions to make a break with the old
world of criticism and debate.
If we are prodded by DIA, exhumed by PS 1, included on the MOMA site, suddenly we
gain cred.
Why?

Are they just smarter than our friends, smarter than us?
<br>
I think they are. I think we need the NY stamp of approval.
Even the Euro/ South American/ Asian communities still look to a small group
of New York playas to give verity to their beliefs.
From Sao Paulo to Tokyo, New Media has fallen into the New York state of mind.

Good work New York!

As George Bush is to foreign civilizations, New York is to Cultural Officialdom.
