Sounds interesting, indeed it does. But have you tried it? And on
what platform? Reading the specs I wouldn't just go ahead and build/
install it on my main computer….

It's meant to run on Linux. But I agree, I'm not sure I would be
willing to give it a whirl on any "primary" box. But I have one that
doesn't have anything important on it and might give it a try. But
no, I haven't tried yet. But that's really beyond the point. I don't
find the provided imagery all that interesting but the concept is
very interesting and the documentation has an interesting,
inquisitive flavour to it.
