Contributors' General Guidelines
"Sambal" (crossing or junction of two roads or rivers) is a peer-
reviewed bi-annual journal for transdisciplinary studies in art,
religion, myth and philosophy. Papers are invited from researchers
and practitioners in but not limited to:
First Issue (August 2002) "Ideas and Images on Life and the
Afterlife"
Studies pertaining to rituals, festivals and celebrations of birth,
death and journeys to the afterlife; art works and practices carrying
the themes of creation myths, cosmologies of the afterworld, cycles
of life and death, and ancestral images.
Second Issue (March 2003) "Sounds and Colors of the Cosmos"
Studies pertaining to music, songs, color perception and symbolism,
color and sound correspondences, as used in rituals and ceremonies
for healing purposes, meditations, and other life-enhancing
processes.
Contributors' Guidelines:
Contributors should submit their articles in both hard copy and
electronic forms (PDF or Word format - DOC or RTF) through
sambal@up.edu.ph. Papers should use 12 pt Times Roman or similar
fonts, should be between 3000 to 7000 words, and should be
accompanied by an abstract/summary of 100-150 words on a separate
sheet, and a short note of biographical details and the full postal
address of the author. If possible, an email address should also be
listed.
Articles with accompanying photographs, scores, rich media and other
forms of illustration should be submitted to the journal's editorial
office in the following format:
Photographs, full color or black and white, should be submitted in
disks or CD-ROM as TIFF images at least 150dpi resolution;
Scores and other forms of notation may be submitted as image files in
disks or CD-ROM, print-outs or photographs;
Rich media, audio, video may be submitted on CD-ROM as WAV, MP3, MPEG
or AVI.
Deadlines:
Submissions should be postmarked
30 June 2002 for the first issue
30 January 2003 for the second issue
