Hi everyone,
Years ago David Crawford was kind enough to donate our default icon,
which is the profile icon you get if you don't pick one yourself. (It's
at http://rhizome.org/directory/icons/default.gif if you can't remember
what it looks like.) David just emailed me and kindly asked me to give
him a rest, and I'm inclined to agree …. It's time to switch icons.
Graphical spring cleaning, if you will.
So! If anybody wants to be able to brag on their CV about being the
next Rhizome default icon designer, please post with a link to it on a
website somewhere. Por favor, don't just forward the icon through email
'cause then you won't be able to see 'em through the web interface.
Icons need to be 50x50 pixels. We'll talk about it here and then I'll
make my decision. (I'm not setting up a voting system for this
decision. The commissions voting software nearly bwoke my wittuw head.)

I think I like jimpunk's best. abe's gets a Miss Congeniality award. Or something.
So I want to put it up as default.gif and you can ask me to replace it if/when you get tired of seeing it up here. Sound good?

Hi, sorry this fell off my radar for a little while. You know, the
usual baby mama drama.
Anyway, there was a last-minute change – wow! controversy! – when
Noah Marchal sent me his default.gif a little late, and then I decided
to go with that. Sorry, j.p. I just thought continuing the astronaut
theme would be cute. Astronauts are cool. Somebody get me some
freeze-dried ice-cream!
The new default icon's now up at
http://rhizome.org/directory/icons/default.gif . Thanks much to the old
icon, and its creator David Crawford, for years of faithful service.
