Software Engineer Intern for Interactive Computer Graphics

Snibbe Interactive is seeking a CS or Engineering graduate student or a senior who has specialized in computer graphics/vision for spring and summer internships. Recently graduated students with applicable skills may apply. Please note that you must be available to work onsite at our San Francisco studio.

You will be involved in highly engaging and challenging work in interactive media. You will work with media artist Scott Snibbe at his San Francisco studio to create interactive installations that incorporate computer graphics, computer vision and web technologies. These works are installed at sites worldwide including art and science museums and public spaces. Some of our recent installations have taken place at San Francisco’s Exploratorium, the London Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Tokyo Intercommunications Center, Yahoo Corporation and many others. You will work directly with other talented engineers and indirectly with the rest of the studio’s creative and administrative staff.

Key skills required:
•Proficiency with C++ and Visual Studio
•Computer Graphics/Video Game programming - 2D, 3D, video, OpenGL
•Ability to work 20 hours/week or more
•Availability to work onsite at our San Francisco studio

Skills and interest in the following areas are also useful:
•Computer vision programming - especially person tracking and high-quality figure extraction using OpenCV and other lower level libraries
•Familiarity with windows development and running environments, ability to troubleshoot drivers, graphics cards, video capture
•Web based application development - JSP, AJAX
•Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

The work we do is technically sophisticated, often at the level of contemporary research.
