snow - new exhibition by paul murnaghan - dublin

Location: The Digital Hub Warehouse 10-13 Thomas St, Dublin 8, Ireland
14th November – 12th December, 2003

Paul Murnaghan’s work has always strived to express human emotion through a mixture of familiar tactile objects and digital manipulation. With this new work he plays with the idea of comfort via our “third parent” – television, focusing on a broken-down TV as both catalyst and source material. This major work is a logical visual development from his last solo exhibition at Arthouse in 2000, ‘mp3 (abode)’ when he impregnated a worn-out piano with global emotions collected through the internet over the period of one year.
His latest installation ‘snow’ will surround you within a large screened space constructed from tensioned steel wire, a garden of slow-motion, monochrome blacks, grays and silvers approached through a curtain of coat hanger aerials, entry conducts the snow like a hand playing a Theremin.
snow is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10.30 –5.30 pm, 14 November – 12 December, 2003

Admission is free.
