Affordable Art Fair opens in NYC

Affordable Art Fair New York City
Contemporary art under $5,000

The second annual Affordable Art Fair, New York (AAF NYC) opened yesterday
in New York with great success and will run through Sunday, November 2 at
Pier 92 (12th Ave. at 50th St.). This year, more than 130 exhibitors are
participating (increase of 30% from 2002) and are all presenting original
contemporary art works priced at less than $5,000.

Private Preview Benefit
This year's Fair began with a Private Preview Benefit for Friends In Deed,
the New York nonprofit organization that supports anyone with a
life-threatening illness, their family, friends, and caregivers
(www.friendsindeed.org). The event raised important funds and was attended
by Candice Bergen, Mike Nichols, Mercedes Ruehl, among many others. (Make
sure you visit the Friends In Deed booth at the Fair which features a
photograph by Candice Bergen of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger entitled
"Getting Oiled," circa 1970. The silent auction of this work continues
through Sunday.) Other guests to the fair included Nataile Portman and
Frances McDormand.
