you pose an interesting question, emil. regardless of whether content can be accessed randomly by the end user, the bias of selection and placement still lies with the 'author' so to speak. some sequence does persist. in designing objects that can be compared in odd juxtopositions maybe it is apt to refer to the designer as a composer of memes, a memist or somesuch relationship to the imparting of ideas through tangental means. the means that we give the user access to our ideas is a replication of our perspective - how they use it may differ from our intentions depending on how strict the codes for interaction are. some ideas .. id like to know more about what you think ..

Hi – Not sure about the terminology, though I'm sure it's discussed in
a thorough way in Manovich's Language of New Media, which very much
uses cinematic idioms in relation to new media. I suggest looking at
the "idiomorphic" software of Barabra Lattanzi. wildernesspuppets is
her domain… and 'idiomorphic" is her self-styled term for her
cinema-derived editing applications. Her 10 or so freeware applications
are on her site… Rachel
