Croatian artist Andreja Kuluncic presents Distributive Justice, a
multidisciplinary Web-based work involving artists, writers, and
philosophers. Most recently exhibited at documenta XI (2002) in Kassel,
Germany, the project is a continually developing exploration of social
values. Developed by a team of collaborators, Distributive Justice consists
of two basic sections, a game for the site visitors and an open space
filled with theories and practical materials, which is to be changed from
site to site of presentation, thus tracing local signifiers. Kuluncic's
project illustrate the artist's main interests in political and, above all,
social engagement, her need to respond to issues of daily politics and
life, and comment on topics ranging from the individual and intimate to the
social and global.
Ms. Kuluncic and Ivo Martinovic are artists-in-residence at Walker during
the month of March. Their work in the Twin Cities will focus on how
Americans see their involvement in the share of the common good. They will
work with local participants involved in science, politics, and the arts,
employing discussions, interviews, questionnaires, and databases to help
compile and document opinions and research relating to this topic.
