Assistant/Associate Professor - Foundation Digital Art & Design

The Cleveland Institute of Art seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time ranked position in our rigorous Foundation Program. The Coordinator teaches, oversees the instructional lab and budget, and facilitates the implementation of digital components across the Foundation curriculum. Candidates must be committed to Foundation teaching, and must demonstrate an ability to engage visual dynamics and studio fundamentals across traditional and contemporary media, methods, and concepts. We are looking for multi-faceted artists/educators with expertise in the areas listed below, as well the ability to teach across areas.

Qualifications:
•Skills and concepts for digital media in relation to drawing, design, and color through print-based, web-based, time-based, and interactive concepts and applications.

•Fluency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, ImageReady, Flash, and Premiere/Final Cut Pro; 3D modeling software experience a plus.

•Ability to teach both Mac and PC platforms required.

•Experience with applied design areas as well as fine arts areas preferred.

Position requirements:
Desired candidates must hold an MFA (or equivalent professional experience or degree), have college teaching experience beyond that of a technical assistant, and have a record of professional work.

All full-time ranked faculty members are expected to participate in departmental and school-wide committees, curriculum development, advising of undergraduate and graduate students, and assessment of programs.

Position begins August 2008. The department’s review of candidates’ credentials is scheduled to begin January 7, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled.
