ARTIST'S STUDIOS: DAVID CRAWFORD'S SMS: SERIES 3

At its heart, the Stop Motion Studies (SMS) series celebrates what can be accomplished within the file size constraints presented by current network architectures. Flash MX is used as both sequencer and streaming technology for what might be referred to as "poor man's video." In terms of conceptual underpinning, the SMS series continues Crawford's investigation into the relationship between technology and our experience of time, space and identity. On top of this is an added interest in exploring public space and in particular, public transportation as a stage on which social dynamics and individual identities are increasingly mediated by technology.

STOP MOTION STUDIES: SERIES 3
All imagery was shot in Paris, France between November 8 and November 11, 2002. The camera used was a Canon PowerShot A40
