Treasure Town is a constellation of exhibition environments that weave through two-and-a-half floors of a mid-nineteenth century Brooklyn building. The rooms range from formal gallery space to a medieval library, catacomb hall and capsule bedroom suspended in a stairwell – a transhistoric home in the present.
Adventures of Order is Treasure Town’s inaugural exhibition. It features the work of eight emerging artists: Anna Mendes, Silas Borsos, Emilio Cuilan, Angus Borsos, Olivia Gibian, Stephen Williams and Shawn Powers. It is both a collaboration with a physical space, as well as an exploration of placelessness in each of the artists’ own terms.
The artists in this show engage a variety of mediums: painting, sculpture, video and performance. They consider the differing ways we order and inhabit our narratives.
Somewhere, just out of sight is a vision of a lost home, a point of origin. From an archaeological point of view, TT is the abandoned place of an anonymous polymathic 21st century wizard-artist named N. Greene.
