An Aquarium of Equations #2 by Guang Zhu
Opening: Apr 30. Thursday. 7 pm.
Apr 30 - Jun 20
Gallery Hours: Tues - Sat 2-7pm
An Aquarium of Equations #2 is a study of tangent curve on both its visual form and its fluid motion.
The installation consists of 6-9 woodblock prints originating from personally researched and designed parametric equations. Those visualizations were then laser-cut onto wood block to create the mould-press. At the end, each mould is being inked, and carefully pressed onto handmade papers. The installation also consists of 2-4 video displays expressing the mathematical motion of crafted parametric equations.
An Aquarium of Equations #2 is about synesthetic experiences through abstract motions of mathematics.
"I romanticize mathematical equations. To me, they seem to live through stories and places. I wonder whether we can feel mathematics as synesthetic experiences through its abstract motions. Can this aesthetic evoke metaphysical understandings of art objects?" - Guang
