Bill Owens: Suburbanites and Socialites features 33 photographs of women and girls by Bay Area photographer Bill Owens. Internationally recognized for his depictions of Northern California suburban life in the 1970s, Owens’ images demonstrate his interest in documenting the ordinary lives of middle-class suburban girls and women. The exhibition is curated by Mills undergraduates Meghan Adkins, Melissa Mize, Sadie Padial, Clare Schneider, Sophie Sterling and Veronica Sutter. The works in the exhibition are a recent acquisition given by Robert Harshorn Shimshak and Marion Brenner.
