Julie Buntin, Illya Szilak, Andy Hunter and Flavia Rocha will discuss innovative ways poets and writers are pushing how readers interact and experience literature through technology.
Julie Buntin is the Director of Programs and Strategic Outreach at The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses. Her past work experience includes directing the events program at powerHouse Arena. Her writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The Rumpus, Cosmopolitan, and One Teen Story, among other publications.
Flávia Rocha is a Brazilian poet and journalist and editor-in-chief for Rattapallax. She is the author of two poetry books, both published in Brazil, A Casa Azul ao Meio-dia/ The Blue House Around Noon and Quartos Habitáveis. She has edited anthologies of Brazilian poetry for Rattapallax, Poetry Wales and Papertiger. Translations of her poems have appeared in a number of magazines in the U.S. and abroad. She is a founder of the Academia Internacional de Cinema, a film school located in São Paulo.
Andy Hunter is the founder of Electric Literature and the President of Black Balloon Publishing. Black Balloon is is a critically acclaimed independent press headquartered in New York, NY. Electric Literature is a non-profit dedicated to amplifying the power of storytelling through digital innovation.
Illya Szilak is a writer of multimedia novels and a practicing physician. Reconstructing Mayakovsky was included in the second Electronic Literature Collection and was a jury pick for the Japan Media Arts Festival. Queerskins was recognized by the Webby’s and was exhibited at the Biblioteque National in Paris. She writes a well-respected blog on e-lit and new media for The Huffington Post. http://queerskins.com
