Stark New Canadian Internet Art Project Takes on Tough Issues of Death, Grief and Loss

Produced by Vancouver new media artist Paul Levine as a response to the
sudden death of his brother in January 1999, "Raising the Dead" (at
www.raisingthedead.ca) is a heart-breakingly personal meditation on the loss
of a brother, a reflection on universal themes of family, death, loss and
mourning, and a unique demonstration of the difficult process involved in
shaping grief into art. Produced with assistance from the Canada Council for
the Arts, this broadband web project took two years to complete, involved
contributions for 14 Canadian artists, and contains almost three hours of
interactive and chilling memories.
