Join Artist Shawn Decker in a gallery talk about his sound installation Prairie, in the Yates Gallery at the Chicago Cultural Center. His large sculptural electro-mechanical sound installation Prairie references the dynamic rhythms of grasslands and the rich soundscape and eco-systems found within, evokes insect sounds, as well as rain, wind, and other rhythms of life within the prairie, enacted within a architectonic minimalism which references highly manufactured Minimalist sculpture of the 1960s as well as to the modernist grids evident in Modernist architecture, and the peculiar notion of “manufacturing” nature.
