On Tuesday, October 29th the Storefront for Art and Architecture will host
the American launch of Artbrain.org #2. This website is of interest to
those who are curious about art, cinema, poetry, philosophy, cognitive
neuroscience, culture and their interactions.
It consists of three parts. The Journal of Neuro-aesthetic Theory looks at
the relationship between cinema and mind. There are articles by Lev
Manovich, Laura Marks, Martha Trivizas, Yann Beauvais, Colin Gardner,
Gregory Flaxman, Andrea Grunnert, Penny Starfield, Warren Neidich and
Fabrice Stroun. It also contains a collaborative section in which an
artist and a neurobiologist team up to explore a specific topic. Poet,
Meena Alexander works with the Neurosurgeon/poet Micheal Salcman,
Neurologist W.H. Zangemeister reviews the work of artist Gabriele Leidloff,
and artist Ellen Levy collaborates with her husband and neurologist David
Levy. A special section dedicated to artists projects is found at the end of
the journal. Diana Thater presents excerpts from her screen play
