Recession Art presents a solo exhibition by Jennifer Mills, a performance artist and painter whose work playfully parodies the art market. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, September 5 from 6-10 p.m.

Known for her explorations of popular culture and unconventional selling practices—including cutting up a notable painting and selling the pieces for under $10—Mills reimagines the relationship between artist and buyer, artwork and viewer, and gallery and collector. Exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to purchase hundreds of original works for prices as low as one penny, or commission the artist to produce new work, including a program in which she directly mails collectors one watercolor each month for a year.
