Swirling, moving, dancing, Michael Alan’s paintings, full of chaotic motion and grace, will transform into the flesh.
Altering the space of the Gershwin Hotel, 7 living figures, as if straight from Alan’s 2d images, will move
back and forth to their own beat and their own dance, participating in Michael Alan’s prom.

7 friends/performers will all be animating separate dances—from hip hop to classical to 80’s to butoh to punk
rock—at the same time for 5 hours.  When the song switches, they will all stick with their individual
dances, creating a multiple, choreographed dancing ensemble living painting.

While they dance, Alan will build, paint, collage, draw and turn them into his reinvention of the prom, a dancing
can-can of colors and materials..  Musician Jarvis Earnshaw will be DJing all the different genres of music
styles in this piece as Neke Carson (Warhol’s ass painter) plays live piano to Earnshaw’s selections.

Dance Till Your Dead is a concept brought together by Alan and friend/performer Raquel Mavecq where certain
tribes would celebrate death by dancing until they died. Punk it out, get lost, let Alan trip you up, dance, drool,
come experience a beautiful new world, The Living Installation..Don’t die! After the performance, Dance Till You’re
Dead will also never die as Alan takes the papers off the performer’s bodies and creates a painting with the
remains of the piece.

What is Michael Alan’s Living Installation? From painting to drawing to spraying to smashing to sculpture to music,
Michael Alan’s Living Installation celebrates creativity in all of its forms. The Living Installation brings the creative
process full-circle.Incorporating elements of Alan’s drawings and paintings, the performers are transformed
into living, moving art objects.  The scraps of collaged paper and other leftovers from the installation are then used in
Alan’s drawings and paintings.

ABOUT THE LIVING INSTALLATION
The Living Installation is life installed in a space.  Enter into a raw space and within 6 hours it will be transformed into a living installation.  This is an invitation to enter into a six hour experience.  During the installation, you are free to come, go, and experience as you choose.  Be creative or be a viewer.  It is a positive art machine, and it is a chance to escape into a new world.  Time is slowed, asking you to be present and to watch the unpredictable development of creation.  The installation will be built from every material Alan can access.  As he builds onto the human body, they perform and merge with the space.
All different kinds of people come together to experience this break in time.  It is the convergence of these people that creates a dynamic alliance.  Viewers are not seen as audience members, but as a part of the formation of this free, intellectual community.  The living installation redefines the elements of art, space, the role of the artist, community, the audience, the use of space, and the body.  Take the freedom to view it as you please.
