Pedro Reyes will speak about his artistic practice
as part of the Big Ideas in Art and Culture Lecture Series. The lecture will be
followed by the screening of a film the artist produced with Raphael Orgega, Palas
Por Pistolas
(Guns for Spades), which documents the collecting and repurposing of guns in
Mexico. The film underlines how Reyes and the community transformed agents of
death into agents of life. After the screening, Reyes and members of the Guelph
community will plant a tree native to the Guelph area using one of the spades
produced through this project.
