hyperplex will consolidate the net art movement by providing a fully
non-commercial, central, free to access and free to post online gallery
space for these new art media. while other sites like dump.fm and rhizome
have provided spaces for the creation and discussion of net art, they
have their limitations: the former being focussed on transience and
participation at the expense of permanence or organisation, and the
latter plagued by an outdated curatorial system and an obsession with
90s nostalgia. GIFs and HTML installations alike are scattered across
the internet, found on disparate blogs and personal sites, but there's
no easy or efficient way to browse, find, view and comment on work. we
believe that hyperplex will solve these problems and significantly
improve the exhibition, criticism and creation of net art by
supplementing existing sites.
