Sinisa Dragin (Roemenie, 2001, 93 min)
Someone who kills animals is a butcher, and someone who kills people is cal=
led a murderer. Dumitru (40) is both. When he is released from prison, he r=
esorts to his old practices on the way home by the train: a card game with =
gypsies gets out of hand, leading to a death. Initially he seems to get awa=
y with it. Back home, his younger wife is waiting for him. Then he finds ou=
t that his brother had made her pregnant. Driven by revenge, another murder=
follows, and that won't be the last: Dumitru becomes a serial killer. His =
life is unbearable. But when he wants to die, he finds out he can't: God ha=
s other plans for him.

WINTERSLEEPERS
Tom Tykwer, director of HEAVEN! (D, 1997,124 min)
A haunting film about passion, love and death which is set in motion by a m=
ysterious accident. The winter landscape's eeriness reflects the un-predict=
ability of the emotions. Almost hallucinatory events begin to unfold and en=
gulf four young people. Tom Tykwer made a film about landscapes and emotion=
s that plays elegantly with genres:thriller, melodrama and love story.
TICKET TO JERUSALEM
Rashid Masharawi (Palestina/Nl, 2002 , 85 min)
A Palestinian couple, Jaber and Sanah, lives in a refugee camp next to Rama=
llah. Against the background of the current situation of the occupation the=
y try to make something of their lives. He is running a mobile cinema throu=
gh the whole West Bank and she is a volunteer with the emergency service of=
the Red Crescent Society. Jaber is invited by a woman school teacher, Raba=
b, to make a screening in the old city of Jerusalem. Despite many difficult=
ies he starts to investigate the possibilities for this screening. By doing=
this he gets involved in the problems of the old mother of Rabab who lives=
in Jerusalem and tries to keep her house free from Israeli settlers. The r=
elation of Jaber and Sanah becomes very tense because Sanah gets the feelin=
g that Jaber is not telling her everything about his motives to take risks =
by going up and down to Jerusalem.
DONNIE DARKO
Richard Kelly (2001, USA, 112 min)
Donnie Darko would seem to be an average high school kid, except for his se=
lf-described "emotional problems". As it happens, Donnie has a problem slee=
pwalking, and has been seeing visions of a six-foot bunny who fills his hea=
d with stories of the impending end of the world, which will happen in just=
less than a month's time. This is the sort of thing one seeks therapy and =
medication for, and Donnie has plenty of both, but things take a strange tu=
rn one night when his imaginary friend lures him out of the house just befo=
re a jet engine crashes into his bedroom. If that weren't odd enough, no on=
e can quite explain where this engine came from, as there were no planes fl=
ying nearby at the time. Perhaps the bunny has a point after all? Only Donn=
ie can know for sure.
SEXY BEAST
Jonathan Glazer (GB,2001,88 min)

tired to a Spanish villa paradise with a wife he adores. The idyll is shatt=
ered by the arrival of his nemesis Don Logan, intent on persuading Gal to r=
eturn to London for one last big job. Desperate not to sacrifice his enchan=
ted existence, Dove is drawn into a shocking and explosive battle of wills =
with Logan, a battle that redefines his notions of love, honor and commitme=
nt.
