A year ago two gallery owners, Phoenix Perry of Devotion Gallery and Igal Nassima of 319 Scholes, launched galleries in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Founded on the conviction that art melding together interests such as architecture, gaming, biology, fabrication, computation, complexity, cloud computing, and sound deserves a home in Brooklyn, both spaces offer unique a environment to their communities. Devotion is a 400 sq ft black box gallery while 319 Scholes is a 3000 sq ft gallery and performance venue. On Friday August 27th at 8pm until Sunday at 6pm, they are celebrating their joint anniversary with THE SHIFT, a benefit showcase at 319 Scholes for both spaces.
THE SHIFT includes an exhibition, art auction with all pieces capped at $250, multiple performances, high calibre live music, and workshops focused on music technology. If you missed the last year at these two ground breaking, kick-ass exhibition spaces, or want a sneak peak at what is in store for 2011, THE SHIFT is not to be missed.

ABOUT DEVOTION: Devotion is a new gallery in Williamsburg focusing on the intersection of art, science, new media, and design. We present cross-disciplinary work that draws from architecture, computation, gaming, biology, fabrication, interface design, open-source communities, cloud computing, sound, science, design, emergence, and complexity. We are always seeking out artists who use new technologies or introduce new paradigms.
ABOUT 319 SCHOLES: 319 Scholes links together three independent organizations in order to achieve a common goal of supporting the minds and needs of contemporary artists of various mediums. The physical space becomes an arena of exchange, allowing production and conception, practice and performance to come together and thus unit artists with their audiences. The design of 319 Scholes is both dynamic and abstract, reiterating our goal of promoting and inspiring individuality and collaboration.
