Come away with Urban Encounters: City to Sea
- A weekend at the seaside! June 11th-13th 2010
Full ticket includes two nights accommodation at the new
Butlins hotel in Bognor Regis — the quintessential seaside
resort, plus presentations and workshops where you will
explore the town and bring back images to show on the
big screen. This weekend away will be full of fun and a
surefire way to experience the British seaside.
Presenters will include the ‘Urban Encounters’ mix of
artists and photographers including Magnum's Peter
Marlow and the 2010 Deutsch Börse photography
prize-nominated photographer Anna Fox, presenting
her new work 'Wish you were here'. This is a weekend
full of seaside treats including a rare opportunity to see
images from the Butlins archive — their collection of
seaside memorabilia and photographs from 1936 onwards.
Saturday 12th will include an afternoon of three workshops
led by three of the attending artists/photographers on the
following themes: The Built Environment, Narrative of Place
and Portraiture. Bring your digital camera! Delegates that
participate on one of these three workshops will be asked
to submit one image, names of ten delegates will be drawn
from a hat for a chance to briefly present their work the next
day. One image from all workshop participants will then be
shown on the Sunday afternoon. Alternatively sign-up as
a team of four to create an image for the 'A Day at the Seaside'
themed workshop for which prizes will be awarded. It's Bognor
