The art and photography graduate students at The California Institute of the Arts are pleased to announce their annual open studios event. The CalArts MFA candidates will open their doors to the public on Sunday, April 11, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. More than 60 artists will be on hand throughout the day to present and discuss their work, a wide range of visual, performance and media practices.
The CalArts MFA Open Studios is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided, and additional sustenance will be available for purchase.
CalArts is about 30 minutes north of Los Angeles, and well worth the drive. From LA, take I-5 North and exit at McBean Parkway. Turn right on McBean, and make the first right into CalArts.
California Institute of the Arts educates professional artists in a unique environment founded on the principles of conceptual excellence, experimentation, critical reflection and independent inquiry. Since its founding in 1961, CalArts has sought to advance the practice of art and promote its understanding in a broad social, cultural and historical context.
This is a rare opportunity for the greater Los Angeles community to interact with an exciting group of emerging artists and to view a wide array of works-in-progress in the casual setting of working studios. Visitors are encouraged to preview the students' work on the website.
