Image and text come together in a new series of work that highlights physical pain and estatic pleasure. This latest body of work renders the internal external as this natural source of nutrients is spread, disseminated and displayed. Blood, which flows through the body, is extracted from the vein and preserved on paper.
Previous films "From Beyrouth with Love" (2005) , "A Film Far Beyond a God" (2008) and "Histoire de la Drogue" (2009) will also be projected throughout the exhibition.
Born in Beirut in 1978, writer, poet and director Wael Noureddine began his professional career as a journalist. His films describe actual situations in ways that are literary and critical. They try to capture the physical and mental scars of conflict while resisting subjugation and defeat.
His work has been shown in the Venice Biennale 2009 as well as numerous international film festivals and museums. This is his first solo exhibition in New York.
