North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Media Studies at the rank of assistant professor beginning September 1, 2015. Higher ranks may be considered for suitably qualified candidates. Professional experience is a plus. An MFA or equivalent terminal degree in art, design or a closely related field is required at time of appointment. Applicants should demonstrate a potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring within a liberal arts setting as well as a commitment to continued professional activity.
The successful candidate will bring experience as a graphic designer, with special expertise in interactive design for web or mobile media, a thorough knowledge of current software (Adobe Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, etc.), and the ability to teach broadly across the graphic arts and interactive technology curricula. Additional experience in animation, video production and/or other media is highly desired. We are a fast-growing department, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development.
