The Department of Art and Art History at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a full-time assistant professor, tenure-track appointment in Graphic Design with particular emphasis on Digital Media beginning Academic Year 2015-2016.

Assistant Professor: Web & Graphic Design

We are seeking an inspiring, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic interactive designer to teach in our Graphic Design specialization. This position requires a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level in web design and time-based media, and might also occasionally teach fundamental graphic design courses. The successful candidate will be a versatile design-practitioner, adept with technological tools to deliver new materials, and able to employ interactive and computer languages in conjunction with solid typographic and image-making skills. Contemporary professional practice is required. The successful candidate will also help to develop our newly introduced Digital Track within the Graphic Design Specialization, and perform student advising and other administrative tasks. This person may also assist in establishing a community-engaged program which utilizes design to serve the surrounding community.

Minimum Qualifications:
1.MFA in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, or Visual Communications from an accredited institution completed by the date of appointment.
2.Solid foundation in digital media as it relates to contemporary visual communications and critical theory.
3.Expertise in graphic software and programing language relevant to interactive design, e.g., Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite, After Effect, Premier, HTML, and CSS.
4.Active Professional Practice in Graphic Design, or record of and promise for an active exhibition record commensurate with a highly competitive liberal arts college.
5.College teaching experience, preferably above the level of a graduate assistantship.
6.Demonstrated ability in leadership and curriculum development, with strong communication skills required.
