I'm writing to request your support for an exciting new work! I need more is my new project consisting of a three-night performance at The KItchen in NYC (November 5th - 7th, 2009) and a new solo album entitled Be the Climb, which will be released simultaneously with the performance through Ecstatic Peace records + tapes. The project offers the possibility of experiencing one overarching choreography through both forms. For the piece, I draw inspiration from tropes found in noise, punk rock, and rock'n'roll music as a source for movement material, tapping my own involvement in both the worlds of experimental music and dance.
Today I am launching a fundraising campaign via Kickstarter.com. With this campaign, I'm trying to raise funds to pay all the talented and gracious professional artists involved in making this project come to life. So far the artists, performers, set and lighting designers, dancers, and musicians have been working for me without pay for months out of love and dedication to their art and the project. I know these are tough times for everyone, but our work continues and hopefully we can make it happen together. Follow the link to the campaign, where you can make a pledge and find out more about the project.
Via this I need more - Kickstarter project page you will find a brief video showing rehearsal footage, links to (unmastered) excerpts from the album, and descriptions of the various levels of contribution/pledges. From limited edition cassettes and CDs of previously unreleased material and handmade books with CDs, to custom ringtones, homecooked dinners, and drinks with the cast, we'll be giving gifts based on your pledge amount.
Here's the catch: All pledges must be made by November 2nd, 2009, and if the goal to this campaign ($1,000.00) is not met by that date, none of the money will be released. This is Kickstarter.com's rule.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly. Thank you!
All the best,
Nancy
