The Department of Art seeks an exceptional artist to teach in the photography area. We are looking for a candidate with a focus and conceptual fluency in the fields of photography including large format, B & W and color digital printing, alternative processes, and contemporary documentary. This candidate would demonstrate the ability to work across disciplines and engage the units and centers across campus that have a research focus in related fields of communications, journalism, anthropology, political science, visual culture, comparative studies, identity/gender/sexuality studies, folklore studies, or one of the many other fields of inquiry in the arts and sciences. The candidate should possess the ability to create new courses that are open to cross-disciplinary teaching and learning. These research approaches should be reinforced through a connection to photographic history and critical media frameworks.
Full time, tenure-eligible position. Service and committee work expected.

Qualifications
MFA degree, 3 years of university-level teaching experience at the adjunct or lecturer status beyond the terminal degree and an active exhibition record and creative research practice, significant photography-based background with commitment to conceptual inquiry, and technical expertise. An active professional creative practice, including a record of exhibitions/presentations/projects beyond the local and regional level is desired. The successful candidate will have a commitment to teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in an integrated studio structure and creating a critical and experimental learning environment within a public research university. Previous experience in developing curriculum, mentoring students, and serving on graduate thesis committees is advantageous.
