School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe is excited to announce 'Fabricating Empathy: Art, Technology, and Outer Space', an exploration into the intersection of technology, art, design and human emotion. Expert instructors stemming from RCA in London will lead workshops over a four week period in Berlin, Germany covering all aspects of digital fabrication, including 3D modelling, machining, and speculative design methodologies. Final work will be shown in Berlin and as part of London Design Week.
How can we create meaningful experiences using technology to explore the very, very distant corners of the universe? How can speculative exploration of outer space provide new ways of understanding ourselves? In this program, we'll journey to explore possible future scenarios, crafting artefacts destined to capture, manufacture, and re-enact human emotions in space.
This is a unique opportunity to learn the ins- and outs of digital fabrication, explore the limits of your own imagination and have your work shown in both Berlin and London.
Dates of the program: 31 August - 27 September 2015
Early bird applications end July 26
